From January 22-26, Vientiane again hosted the Lao Food Festival. An exciting event for all the foodies out there. And it was free to attend!
This year saw the Lao Food Festival celebrate its 20th anniversary. This event is one of the first major events to take place in the social calendar.
If you want to try Lao food from different regions, this is a great place for that as vendors and sponsors from across the country congregate to showcase their signature cuisine dishes and packaged food products from their hometown or province.
It can be very easy to simply walkthrough the event and assume it's all the same. But in fact, upon closer inspection there's much to appreciate.
To truly enjoy the event deeply, it's important to stop and take notice, explore, ask questions, taste samples and speak with the vendors to learn more. Each year there are more and more products being sold and new things to try.
There's definitely a lot to explore as the event had 160 food stalls and 20 stalls that had vendors selling handicraft and agricultural products.
Additionally, the event also holds cultural performances, which are all free to attend, that included traditional Lao dancing, singing and musical instruments.
If you missed it this year, be sure to add it to you calendar for next year! Meanwhile, enjoy another video from another Youtuber who covered the event.
