Several months ago in October 2024, in an incredible costume display during the national costume portion of the Miss Grand competition, Lao contestant and Pakse native, Souksavanh Vongsomphou, came out in not just a costume but practically an entire on-stage set piece.
She stood in the center of it all, surrounded by cultural symbols of Laos. In the background was the image of Wat Pu and at the foreground were elephants and dok champa flowers.
As she moved towards the center of the stage she came out of the set piece and walked down the runway in her costume. A beautiful golden deity from Buddhist/Hindu mythology. Part way down the runway, she pulled on some strings and her costume spread its multi-arm display (shown below).
