In this short documentary (24 minutes) from 2023, follow along with Andy Boreham as he travels from Kunming in southern China's Yunnan Province to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, stopping off at Boten, Luang Prabang, and Vientiane.
At his first stop in Laos is the border town of Boten. Andy meets with Wang Xiaojing, a Chinese national who has been living in Laos for several years. She's the representative of the Laos Boten Special Economic development and construction group. They discuss development of the town and its future plans, as well as, a visit to Boten Lake.
In his second stop at Luangprabang, Andy meets with Souphanouvong University student, Di Jia, a railway engineering student who's program runs in conjunction with the Shanghai Institute of Technology. They end their discussion with a delicious local Lao meal. Additionally, Andy goes on to discuss unexploded ordinance and visits the UXO Center and speaks with its director, Houmhanh Chanthavong. He finishes with a visit to Kuang Si Waterfall and morning alms giving.
Finally, in Vientiane, Andy meets with Souksakone Vaenkeo, a Vientiane Times reporter who has been covering the railway development in the country. The documentary ends with a meeting with the Vientiane railway station operations director Du Zhigang, a Chinese national who now calls Laos his home.
