For those who have visited the town of Luang Prabang, many of us will remember the modest Luang Prabang Library right on the main road in the city center on Sisavangvong road - its original location.
The most memorable thing for me was the cute little book store that it had on the left side where they sold and exchanged books to help fundraise. I remember buying books here from Sengdao.
However, last year the library closed down at that location. But don't fret!
The New Library
The library was simply relocated to its new location on Kounxoua Road.
If you know Luang Prabang, it's across the street from the Vat Nong Sikhounmuang Temple, in the same building as the Children's Cultural Center, Exhibition Hall of the Art School, and German-Lao Association for Development's Cultural Center.
The New Restaurant
Going back to the topic of the original building on Sisavangvong road, according to the signage we found on the front gate, it's now owned by a Chinese company called Benshanai Catering Management Company.
As of September 2024, the building is still being renovated and will be home to a new restaurant that will have local Lao, Chinese and international cuisine. And as you can see from the sign, they're looking for staff as well.
