This year, Youtuber Now in Lao visits Phonsavan, Xiengkhouang to attend the largest Hmong New Year celebration in Laos in December.
The Hmong (aka miao) are one of the many dozens of ethnic groups in Laos. With their own unique language, beliefs, and customs.
They are often easily identifiable with their signature looks that include their beautifully coloured clothing with intricate designs that are often adorned with silver coins and jewelry.
There are also Hmong diaspora in America, Thailand, China and Vietnam. Hmong New Year celebrations take place across Laos but this one in Phonsavan takes first place as the largest among them.
