In Vientiane,
the National Museum across from the National Cultural Hall has quite
a large array of both general historical and war photos.
For a published
compilation of historical photos, there's a large sized book called
"Treasure From Laos". It was created by the Lao government
in the late 1990s. The large-paged book of 136 pages is full of
old black and white photos and engravings (some color engravings
as well) of Laos and Lao people dating back to 18th and 19th century.
It's the single most comprehensive collection of historical photos
ever published in a single book, so far. There are both English
and French versions. Both are written bilingually to include Lao
as well. It includes photos of daily life, ethnographic images,
towns, villages, what the That Luang looked like after it was sacked,
and much more. It's very interesting.
There are also
postcards sold in Laos and online featuring monocramatic Lao historical
photos on them.
