Laos sent a
total of 153 athletes who competed in 23 events. The final medal
count was one gold, five silver and 15 bronze. Their ranking was
eighth place. This time there were more medals won by Lao athletes.
For comparison
however, first place ranking was Vietnam with 158 gold, 97 silver
and 91 bronze medels and a contingent of 690 athletes competing
in all events.
Laos still has
to do a lot more to support its national athletes who continue to
show great potential in sports.
A number
of people have written in expressing thanks and appreciation for
the Column and its insighful responses recently so we thought we'd
