post an update on this.

here sells Lao audio cassettes to help people learn to read and pronounce
Laotian. The cost however is quite prohibitive ($340 USD).

According to public
government records regarding imports of Lao goods into Canada the
amount is not much - it is approximately $2.9M (Cdn$) in 2001. Out
of the seven Canadian corporations found to be importing Laotian products only
one is an electronics goods company, while the rest are clothing and
textile companies.
