Unfortunately we do not know of any individuals or businesses that produce traditional Lao wear in the US as this information is not readily available to us.

I do recommend that you try to contact family members or friends in Laos who would be able to contact a local seamstress or tailor who would be able to create the clothing for you and your future-husband and send it to the US.

Another suggestion is to simply ask around in your nearest Lao community. Often times there are at least a few people who have Lao fabrics and who may know how to sew Lao wear - this is definitely something I would try first, if you are unable to contact friends/family or suppliers in Laos.

I agree books on this topic may be a bit more harder to come by. However, I do have some recommended readings which will be most useful to you. Please note however we have not reviewed any of these books.

• Fishes of Laos by M. Kuttelat (spelling of last name may be incorrect)
• Birds of Southeast Asia by E. Ben King and M. Woodcock Dickinson

Additionally, general books on Laos or Laos travel books have fauna and flora sections to get general ideas of the animals in the country.
